PYRENEES FARMHOUSE
2022, Complete renovation & Interior Design, Saint-Laurant-de-Cerdans – French Pyrenees
This old farmhouse was given a complete renovation to suit the needs of a growing family.
The stone walls were repointed in lime to allow the building to breath whilst also enhancing the look of the exposed interior stone walls. Remaining walls were lime plastered throughout.
Oak flooring was used throughout the main living areas & bedrooms. In the kitchen French limestone slabs were laid and the original steps between the kitchen and dining area were widened with custom made double oak doors to fit the new arched doorway to better connect the two spaces. Bathrooms were micro-cemented and floors were tiled with an hexagonal terracotta tile, reminiscent of the previous old floor.
Where possible items from the old farmhouse, such as cupboards and benches were restored and used. Beds were custom made to suit the needs of the family, vintage and antique furniture and rugs were sourced from antiques fairs within the region, and traditional bespoke kitchen was made by Devol, with a French Oak countertop. Contemporary artworks were used to work in harmony with the simplicity of the building and its chosen furniture.
THE GUEST BARN
2021, Complete renovation & Interior Design, Saint-Laurant-de-Cerdans – French Pyrenees
The old Barn underwent a complete renovation. It was to be used as one of two private guest houses on the property. A mezzanine floor was added using reclaimed oak boards sourced from a French architectural salvage yard, as were the old beams where the originals were not able to be restored. Kitchen and storage cabinetry were also made from reclaimed French oak. All interior pieces were sourced from markets or interior specialists within France and sometimes over the border in Catalunya. Emphasis was put on keeping a rustic French feeling with a mid-century injection that could flow with the more modern steel framed doors and micro cement flooring, kitchen worktop and bathroom. The large glass framed entrance doors allowed a much needed flow between the garden and the barn interior. At night the windows can be shuttered up and large custom made, barn style wood sliding doors close up the building.
PLACA MOLINA
2019, Interior Design, Placa Molina – Barcelona
This fully restored apartment was ready to move in for a growing family of 3. Some small changes were made to the interior such as the addition of a bathroom, and an open play area was opened up from an awkwardly situated bedroom. As the new baby was imminent, items such as the sofa were sourced from ex showroom models, a low bed was custom made for the master bedroom with attention paid to quality natural bedding and textiles throughout. Other in-stock, more modern items were sourced alongside vintage pieces from local vintage galleries to give a playful modern mid-century feel to this beautiful open plan apartment, situated in an iconic Art Deco building. Whilst being on the first floor, the situation of the building allowed a lot of natural light into the open plan living-dining and adjoin bedroom. Potted plants were placed on the many balconies to bring home the Mediterranean vibe of this beautiful city. Artwork was sourced from a local contemporary art gallery for up and coming artists and placed throughout the apartment & alongside a custom made macramé wall hanging.
MARLET PENTHOUSE
2017, Interior Design; Gothic Quarter-Barcelona
This Penthouse in Barcelona’s old Jewish quarter was given a sensitive renovation, opening up a cluster of smaller rooms as well as a small attic above the apartment, creating an open loft style space. Its new owner, who frequently traveled for business wanted the home to reflect his cultured lifestyle and his love for mid-century antiques and taxidermy. A mix of his own taxidermy were used alongside handpicked pieces such as the Kudu head from the famous Deyrolle in Paris. Furniture was sourced from local specialist dealers Fins de Siècles, including the main bespoke lighting piece that hangs above the dining table, made from original 60s glass oil shades.
A neutral palette was used throughout, with rich wood finishes, brass accents and the soft green finish of the art deco table to give a timeless finish against the all white backdrop. The retro leather sofa and armchair, by contrast add a more relaxed element to the sophisticated lines of the furniture.

PIED-Á-TERRE
2016, Interior Design, Eixample District – Barcelona
This small pied-á-terre was designed as a city retreat for a well-travelled Australian photographer. A place to relax while passing through the city, and an occasional rental for other artists on the go when it was empty. In this instance the main room was designed around the vintage kilim rug that the owner fell in love with, bought locally from a collectors own private collection. It set the tone for a rich mix of colours and materials, mixing mid-century with playful reproduction Cassina dining chairs, box side tables and an original Piva coffee table. The sideboard doubles as a desk and folds out for use as a dining table. The artwork, a mix of the photographers own work and some contemporary art from a local gallery. The bathroom was given a small update from the standard tiles that this new build provided, the removal of a bi-day made room for a playful shelf ladder. The bedroom, more understated, focused on comfort with the addition of a bespoke mid-century inspired standing lamp to continue the playful elements of the living area into the bedroom.
